Dr. Anita Nahal
Anita Nahal, Ph.D., CDP Certified Diversity Professional (CDP), educationist, professor, author, poet & dancer, Dr. Anita Nahal, is also the Founder & Chairperson of www.diversitydiscover.com . Currently, she is a Diversity Consultant and Trainer, and also serves in the capacity of the Mellon Fellowship Program Administrator, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Nahal lectures on unconscious bias, diversity, inclusion and inter cultural competency, and in recent years has lectured to over hundreds on these topics at various organizations in DC, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Nahal's past positions include: Assistant Provost for International Programs, Howard University, Visiting Associate Professor, Binghamton University, Associate Professor, Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi, India; and Adjunct Professor, George Mason University. She has been actively involved in research and publication in various areas such as diversity and inclusion, US history, African American Women’s History and Modern India. She has held many visiting research positions including, Visiting Scholar of Gender, University of California, Berkeley, Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at Binghamton University, and an NEH Summer Seminar Award. Besides two academic books, Nahal has one book of poems and three children’s books, and over 30 articles in journals and blogs. She writes periodically on LinkedIn. Nahal's most recent data oriented study on Ethnic and Cultural Diversity at HBCUs was published as a chapter in a book in 2015. Her recent poems can be found in Aberration Labyrinth and Confluence.
Nahal has travelled to 15 countries and speaks three foreign languages, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. She is deeply involved in community service in women’s & children’s issues, diversity & multiculturalism, education achievement gap and Medicare. More info on Nahal is available in LinkedIn.
